  • The dogs available for adoption on our site will be adopted to families in CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, and VT ONLY.
  • The adoption donation varies depending on the dog's age:
    • Under 6 months - $350
    • 7 months to 2 years - $325
    • 3 years to 8 years - $300
    • Over 8 years - $275 or discretion of Area Coordinator
  • Please review our "What We Do" page to learn how we get our rescues, learn about IG's and their characteristics, and learn about the adoption process.
  • We would like to remind potential adopters that IG's are playful well into their teens and can easily live to be 14-16 yrs old, some even older! We have wonderful older iggies looking for homes. Please consider meeting one or a pair of them in person so you can see how wonderful they can be!
  • If you are a couple that is contemplating having children in the near future or if you currently have a young a child, please be sure that you are aware than an IG demands a lot of attention and can be very fragile. If you are interested in adopting, please be sure that your child is well behaved and understands that they need to be gentle with the dog.
  • If you are thinking of adopting an IG, please know that 95% of these guys/gals are BED BUGS, they prefer to sleep in bed and under the covers because unlike many other breeds they crave warmth and body heat, they are snuggle bugs to the max! If you prefer that your dog sleep elsewhere, please consider adopting a different breed as it may take several months before we get an IG in rescue that would be okay with not sleeping in bed.
  • We MUST have your application in hand prior to having any discussions on specific dogs due to the increased volume of inquiries on our adoptable dogs.
  • The application can be printed from the "Application" button to the left and must be completed and faxed or emailed with attention to ONE of the following people:

         Mary Frankio (MA,ME,NH,VT): 781-447-0572 (fax) info@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
Ann Bodkhe (Western MA): ann@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
Glenn Brewer (Northern MA): glenn@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
Melissa Martin (RI): 401-597-0215 or 401-652-1704 (faxes) melissa@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
Cathy White (CT): 877-816-7886 (fax) cathy@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
  • We often have a list of approved homes waiting for dogs, so there are some IGs that don't make it onto our website. If you've researched the breed and think a rescued dog is for you, please submit an application, even if there is not a dog on our website in which you are interested. We may have more dogs in our rescue program than what are found on our site.

Available for Adoption

Willow

Willow is a spayed female who turned 6 in April 2011. She is TOTALLY DEAF. She is white with a few black markings on her ears. She is very healthy, and doesn't have any medical issues. She would do best with a stay at home person, or one that is not away from the house for extended periods of time. She is sweet, loving, gives lots of kisses, and very willing to please. She likes to be in the same room as her people are, and will follow you around the house. She loves to cuddle, be near you on the couch, under blankets, and loves to have her ears rubbed. She loves stuffed toys, and is very good at playing fetch. She loves to play with others (people & dogs), and will try to get them to play with her. She is a great eater & eats twice a day. She also accepts treats when she is good and goes potty outside. Working on potty habits, and working on crate training; she does okay for short periods of time. She gets along with other dogs well, but can be jealous at times. (we think she was an only dog for her first 6 yrs.) She loves to ride in cars & go to the park for daily walks.

Willow is being fostered in NH.

Brown

Brown is a tiny seal color spayed female who turned 7 in August 2011. She would do best with a stay at home mom or one that is not away from the house for extended periods of time. She is sweet, loving, and so willing to please. She goes outside to potty frequently and will use the cloth pee pads if not able to go out. She has IBS and will have a flare up if given foods and treats that are not her regular diet. She is currently on Iams Veterinary Formula - Low-Residue kibble. She eats twice a day and she also accepts these as treats when she is good and goes potty outside. She is a great eater and eats in her crate as well as sleeps there. She had a very rough start at life and was dumped at a kill shelter severely underweight. Someone pulled her from the shelter and she was brought to Rescue. She loves to cuddle, be held, be pet and spoken to. She readily wears clothes and seems to like it. She likes small stuffed dog toys and gets along with other dogs well now, however they must be tiny and gentle as she is very delicate. She would probably do best as a pampered only companion.

Brown is being fostered in CT.

For more information on Brown, please contact Cathy at cathy@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Albie

Albie is such a love. He is around 9-10 years old, is on light, inexpensive medication for infrequent seizures. Once in a while a real special little boy will come into rescue and here we have one. He would like nothing more than to sit on your lap and watch tv and enjoy your company. He loves to ride in cars. He is totally house-trained and so well-behaved - a perfect companion! Don't let his age fool you, he is NOT an old man - he is young-hearted and a a real lovey boy. A very pale fawn.

Albie is being fostered in MA.

For more information on Albie, please contact Mary at info@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Dolly

Dolly is a 5 month old female puppy. She is TOTALLY DEAF. Absolute cutie pie, tries to do her best in spite of her disability. Always busy and happy and eager to please. Needs to be in a home that is rarely left unoccupied and would do better with an older Italian Greyhound as a guide. Dolly is white with a red patch on one side of her face. Dolly tried to be supergirl and tried to jump a gate and broke her leg. Will be all set to go mid-March.

Dolly is being fostered in MA.

For more information on Dolly, please contact Mary at info@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Bugs

Bugs is an adorable, super high energy 11 month old female puppy. Would do best by herself with someone home a significant amount of time. She broke her leg at 12 weeks of age and it was fixed correctly and is completely healed. She could use puppy kindergarten classes. She was taken away from her mama way too early and it has contributed to her high energy state. She's gorgeous nearly solid blue and will be about 12 lbs. Bugs absolutely needs a fenced yard and cannot go to a home with young children or large dogs (we don't know why but she absolutely is phobic about large dogs).

Bugs is being fostered in MA.

For more information on Bugs, please contact Mary at info@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Vinny

Introducing Vinny, who is 14 years young. I don't think Vinny knows he is blind because he charges around full steam ahead! He likes to cuddle with other dogs and people and just hang out with the bunch. Before coming into care, Vinny was kept crated in the basement because of his house training issues. Vinny does mark in the house a lot, possibly because of his insecurities, and will need someone who can work with him to make him feel more secure. He is healthy, a good eater, and doesn?t have any other medical issues. He would do best a quiet household with someone home most of the time.

Vinny is being fostered in Western MA.

For more information on Vinny, please contact Ann at ann@eastcoastigrescue.org.
